For artists who have do not have the equipment and/or facilities to execute their own commissions, Cheney Metals offers wide range of atelier services e.g. fabrication, repair and installation of large scale public art projects. As licensed contractors they understand the issues between architects, engineers, stakeholders, and other creative professionals often involved on public art project teams.
Richard Deutsch, a nationally recognized sculptor has collaborated with Cheney Metals for over 10 years on several successful creative large and small scale projects. His sculptures often feature large simple sculptural forms that require exacting engineering fabrication. In Deutsch’s words, “…Through their ability to assist design and intelligently guide the fabrication concepts, fabrication always results in accuracy and efficiency while carrying through the integrity of the original design.”
Cheney Metals has assisted Marilyn Kuksht with fabrication and installation of her major ‘Percent for Art’ project at the Live Oak Volunteer Center near Santa Cruz CA, as well as fabrication of several large sculptures for her private clients. They have collaborated on many other projects for over 10 years
